About the funder
The Karl and Alfred Marchionini Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Munich. It originates from the testamentary provisions of Prof. Dr. med. Alfred Marchionini and his wife Dr. med. Mathilde Marchionini (née Soetbeer). Originally founded in 1959 as the "Alfred and Mathilde Marchionini Foundation," it was renamed in 1976 in honor of Karl Marchionini. Since 1972, the foundation has financed and operated the Marchionini Student Dormitory at Olympiapark (Lerchenauer Straße 41) and offers affordable housing to needy students of public universities in Munich within a vibrant, self-managed community.

Mission & Vision
The Karl and Alfred Marchionini Foundation aims to provide students with limited financial means an affordable and community-oriented housing option in Munich. In doing so, it promotes democratic engagement, international understanding, and shared responsibility in the self-administration of the residence.
Target groups
Funding is provided to regular students of public universities in Munich (e.g., LMU, TU, universities of applied sciences, academies of fine arts and music). Requirements include financial need, political interest, social merit, as well as active participation in community life and in the residence self-administration.
