About the funder

The Department of Nature Conservation within the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government (Directorate for Regional Planning, Economic and Rural Development) is responsible for the development and implementation of nature conservation regulations, the management of nature reserves, and the preparation of funding programs for the protection and promotion of biodiversity in Upper Austria. It develops technical foundations, provides advisory services as well as administrative procedures in the field of nature and landscape conservation, and allocates funding to create new habitats, preserve biotope structures, and support ecological projects in the cultural landscape.

Target groups

Natural persons and legal entities, municipalities, and schools that wish to implement measures for the protection, creation, or improvement of habitats for endangered plant and animal species, as well as for the enhancement of the agriculturally shaped landscape in Upper Austria, are eligible for funding. This includes, among others, agricultural enterprises, associations, municipalities, and educational institutions that carry out projects in the public interest.
