Beug Stiftung für Metastasierungsforschung
About the funder
The Beug Foundation for Metastasis Research was established by Hartmut Beug (1945–2011) to advance the study of the molecular foundations of cancer metastasis. Every two years, it awards prizes and financial support to early-career researchers to enable them to develop initial preliminary research data, thereby facilitating their entry into regular third-party funded projects. Administrative costs are covered by the volunteer board, ensuring that all incoming donations directly benefit the research projects.

Mission & Vision
Our goal is to promote innovative and original approaches in metastasis research to gain new insights into the spread of malignant tumor cells. We aim to provide young researchers with a platform to realize their scientific ideas and thereby develop improved diagnostic and therapeutic concepts for cancer patients in the long term.
Target groups
Young scientists are supported: For the Junior Prize, the doctorate must have been completed within the past six years; for the Senior Prize, within the past twelve years. The foundation targets international research groups conducting independent projects on the molecular elucidation of metastasis processes in cancer research.
