About the funder

The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation is one of the major charitable private foundations in Germany. It was established in 1986 by Eva Mayr-Stihl and Robert Mayr and was renamed to its current name in 2004. The foundation funds projects with a focus on medicine, science & research, as well as art & culture. A geographical focus lies on Waiblingen and the greater Stuttgart area; in addition, it supports nationwide and international initiatives. The foundation is independent, uses its resources for the benefit of society, and adheres to the principles of good foundation practice.

Mission & Vision

“Economic success always also means social responsibility.” The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation is committed to actively embracing social responsibility. It promotes excellent healthcare, sustainable research for the future of our forests, as well as tangible art and culture. Transparency, responsible action, and closeness to the region are the foundation of its activities.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation are aimed at universities, research institutes, and early-career researchers (e.g., Deutschland Scholarships, German Forest Science Award), medical facilities and care organizations (e.g., Stuttgart Clinic, projects for the care of rare diseases), cultural institutions, artists, and associations in Waiblingen and the Stuttgart region, as well as non-profit organizations in areas such as animal welfare, youth and elderly care, including projects in Bavaria.
