About the funder
The FUNUS Foundation is a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Kabelsketal OT Osmünde. It was established in 2009 on the basis of the former People's Funeral Association Halle and Surroundings and aims to preserve and further develop the funeral culture in Germany. To this end, it initiates and supports publications (e.g., the magazine "DRUNTER & DRÜBER"), exhibitions (at the Center for Finite Culture), event series such as the "Death Slam" and the finite culture days "City of the Mortals," as well as international symposia. Additionally, it supports external projects through donations and endowments, thereby contributing to the public discourse on death, mourning, and dying in culture, science, and society.

Mission & Vision
The mission of the FUNUS Foundation is to bring death and finitude as an integral part of life into the consciousness of society. It promotes interdisciplinary encounters and creative formats to raise awareness among professionals (undertakers, care and hospice workers, grief counselors), scientists, artists, and the general public about the topics of dying and mourning, and to enable a cultivated, open dialogue.
Target groups
The FUNUS Foundation is aimed at professional actors in the funeral and healthcare sectors (undertakers, crematorium and hospice staff, funeral orators), nursing professionals, pastoral caregivers, and medical practitioners, as well as artists, authors, and researchers who engage culturally or academically with the themes of death and mourning. Furthermore, it supports cultural institutions (museums, educational institutions, cultural centers) and offers the interested public as well as mourners a sensitive approach to the culture of finitude.
