About the funder

The Global Crop Diversity Trust is an independent non-profit foundation established in 2004 under international law, headquartered in Bonn. It serves as the central funding mechanism of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and aims to secure the genetic diversity of crops permanently and make it available worldwide. The Crop Trust supports ex-situ collections in seed banks, provides technical and financial assistance, and jointly operates the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Svalbard together with the Norwegian government and NordGen.
