With approximately 1,700 employees at seven administrative locations and 33 road maintenance depots, it manages a network of over 8,300 km of federal and state roads, 1,700 km of cycle paths, 1,700 km of avenues, 900 km of tree rows, as well as 1,500 bridge structures. Its core responsibilities include the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of road infrastructure, the care of trees and green spaces along traffic routes, and advising municipal authorities. Furthermore, as a funding agency, the Landesbetrieb supports investments in municipal road, bridge, and cycle path construction through grants and oversees public tenders for construction and engineering services.

Target groups

Funding from the Landesbetrieb Straßenwesen Brandenburg is aimed at municipal road authorities in the state of Brandenburg, particularly districts, independent cities, and municipalities. This target group receives grants for investments in municipal road, bridge, and bicycle path construction to improve traffic conditions, ensure safe routes to schools and playgrounds, and implement bicycle traffic concepts in accordance with the provisions of the KStB Bbg 2024 guideline.
