About the funder
Projektträger Karlsruhe (PTKA) is an independent organizational unit at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with a focus on research management. For over 50 years, PTKA has been managing publicly funded innovation and research projects in the areas of production, services, work, water, waste disposal, as well as environment & energy (BWP). Approximately 170 employees from the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, economics, and law support project proposals from consultation and evaluation through to administrative processing. PTKA utilizes the infrastructure of KIT at the North Campus in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen and maintains a second office at the Dresden location.

Mission & Vision
PTKA sees itself as a competent partner for the promotion of application-oriented research in Baden-Württemberg. The goal is to develop and implement scientifically sound solutions for environmental and energy issues. Through close coordination with the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy Economy, as well as through peer review procedures and intensive applicant consultation, PTKA ensures that funded projects make a sustainable contribution to the environmental basis of life.
Target groups
The funding activities of PTKA-BWP are aimed at scientists, research institutions, universities, and companies in Baden-Württemberg engaged in application-oriented environmental and energy research. Projects supported are those pursuing interdisciplinary approaches and developing innovative management or technological solutions for societal and ecological challenges.
