About the funder

The Schering Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation under civil law, established in 2002 by Schering AG with an endowment of €35 million. It supports life sciences, contemporary art, as well as scientific and cultural education—particularly projects at the intersection of science and art. Operationally, it develops and implements its own programs and formats, independently or in cooperation, including exhibitions, dialogue formats, and support for emerging talent. Funding decisions are made by a board of trustees composed of figures from culture, science, and business, while management is the responsibility of an executive board. The office, currently staffed by six employees, is based in Berlin.
