Description
The coordination and support action “6G Devices” aims to develop a Europe-wide coordinated roadmap for 6G-capable end devices across different complexity classes and application scenarios. Targeted are telecommunications and microelectronics companies as well as industry representatives from application sectors such as automotive, industry, healthcare, and public safety. Within the framework of a two-year project, requirements from industry and vertical sectors will be consolidated, value chain gaps identified, and strategic measures developed to strengthen European device manufacturing. The funding amount is €2 million, with non-profit organizations reimbursed up to 100% and professional organizations up to 90% of costs. Applications can be submitted electronically via the EU portal until 29 April 2026. Eligibility requires legal status in an EU member state or associated country as well as compliance with the Horizon Europe Regulation (Article 22) and restrictions for high-risk suppliers as defined in the 5G cybersecurity toolbox.
The project process includes a structured market and application analysis, workshops with industry and vertical stakeholders, and the development of recommendations on key technologies such as microelectronics, edge AI, and ecodesign. Participating partners will create an application-dependent scenario roadmap, evaluate national initiatives, and propose cooperation approaches with the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips-JU). The action supports consortia of all company sizes and offers financial assistance for personnel, travel, material, and workshop costs. The goal is to establish a solid foundation for a European device initiative in the next multiannual financial framework and to sustainably enhance the competitiveness of the industry.
