Description

The loss compensation for the Salzburg Festival represents a continuously accessible grant opportunity for public institutions, designed to secure the operational losses of the Salzburg Festival Fund. Within this funding framework, the State of Salzburg covers a share of 20% of the determined losses, supplemented by the federal government (40%), the City of Salzburg (20%), and the Salzburg Tourism Promotion Fund (20%). The objective is to ensure the long-term economic stability of the Festival Fund and thereby guarantee the continuation of the traditional festival heritage. Eligible expenses include all operational losses, the amount of which is determined based on the approved annual budget.

A grant requires the determination of the expected or actually incurred operational losses by the Board of Trustees of the Salzburg Festival Fund. For this purpose, corresponding resolutions on advances and final accounts must be submitted as proof. Applications can be submitted at any time since May 2014, as there is no deadline. The legal basis is the Federal Act of July 12, 1950, on the Establishment of the Salzburg Festival Fund (Federal Law Gazette No. 147/1950), supplemented by the audit by the Court of Audit. Interested public institutions receive a grant amounting to 20% of the determined loss upon submission of the Board of Trustees' documents, to secure a reliable financial foundation for the successful continuation of the Salzburg Festival.
