Description
The alternative energy funding for thermal solar systems in Carinthia supports natural and legal persons in the installation of solar thermal systems for hot water preparation, supplementary space heating, swimming pool heating, and process heat generation. Funding is provided to companies, non-profit organizations, public institutions, farmers, and private individuals, provided no other regional subsidies are claimed. Applications can be submitted after the completion of the system and are possible without limitation. There is an exclusion in biomass district heating supply areas unless a written exemption confirmation is available. For flat-plate collectors, a minimum storage volume of 50 l/m² and for vacuum tube collectors 70 l/m² is required; if this is not met, the funding amount is reduced proportionally.
The one-time, non-repayable construction cost subsidy covers 50% of the recognized investment costs, with federal or EU funding being offset. A maximum of €150 per m² of gross collector area is paid out. Eligible expenses include collectors, heat storage tanks, piping, pump groups, heat meters, other operationally relevant system components, as well as planning and consulting costs. Heat distribution within the building, electric heating rods, personal labor contributions, hybrid and special swimming pool collectors are not funded. Required documentation includes, among others, the application form, acceptance protocol, original invoices, payment receipts, property value assessment for farmers, and, if applicable, a positive evaluation from the KPC. Processing takes place after submission of all documents, with an expected processing time of approximately six weeks.
