Description
The Family Caregiver Relief Service of the State of Salzburg offers caregiving relatives the opportunity to take a break through hourly care services provided by recognized mobile services in the home environment. As a subsidy program in the fields of Social Affairs, Health, and Work & Social Affairs, cost shares of professional care and support services are covered to preserve family resources in the long term. The needs-based support ranges from single interventions to regular time slots and represents a flexible relief strategy. Applications can be submitted continuously, facilitating rapid utilization and individual planning. Since October 1, 2020, the funding offer has been available without a fixed end date, ensuring sustainable planning of care times. Through the grants, caregiving relatives can gain hourly free time and significantly reduce the risk of overload.
Funding is provided to private individuals with Austrian citizenship or equivalent status and main residence in Salzburg, as soon as care allowance from level 3 onwards is granted or a care effort exists that excludes sole care for more than three hours. Care recipients over 65 years of age are also eligible to apply. A prerequisite is that care and support are provided by close relatives in the shared household and that the services are delivered by authorized providers according to the Social Services Ordinance or the Salzburg Social Assistance Act. The subsidy covers a portion of the remuneration paid directly to the recognized service provider and is disbursed upon submission of the corresponding proof. Internally, the instrument carries the reference number 1068030 and is based on § 22 para. 2 of the Salzburg Social Assistance Act. The goal is to maintain the familiar living environment, support family closeness, and strengthen the physical and mental health of all those affected.
