Description
The Paul-Ehrlich-Society for Chemotherapy e.V. Foundation supports research projects based at institutes and clinics of German-speaking universities nationwide with temporary seed funding of €10,000 each for a duration of 12 months. The focus is on projects related to antimicrobial chemotherapy, for example in pharmacology, toxicology, resistance mechanisms, resistance epidemiology, and host–pathogen interactions. Funding is provided as a 100% grant and covers personnel costs, laboratory consumables, and publication expenses. The aim is to establish innovative research ideas and to enable early publication of results in scientific journals as well as their presentation at events of the Paul-Ehrlich-Society.
Eligible applicants are scientists, particularly early-career researchers, working at an institute or clinic of a German-speaking university who seek to initiate externally funded projects. A prerequisite for the grant is the presentation of the project proposal at the annual meeting of the Paul-Ehrlich-Society for Chemotherapy as well as participation in an independent review process that evaluates scientific excellence, innovation, and relevance to antimicrobial chemotherapy. Required application documents include a detailed project description, a curriculum vitae, a publication list, and a budget plan. Calls for applications are issued once a year; the exact deadline varies depending on the announcement. This funding measure supports the development of sustainable research capacities and promotes the scientific careers of young talents.
