Seed Funding

The seed funding supports non-profit organizations in Vienna in creating urgently needed childcare and educational places for children aged 0 to 3 years in institutional, early childhood settings. As an earmarked grant, it aims to open new educational resources or specifically expand existing structures. In doing so, the funding significantly contributes to strengthening comprehensive, high-quality early childhood education in the state capital and facilitates families' access to reliable childcare. The funding period extends from September 1, 2009, to December 31, 2027, and relates to designated target areas within the Vienna city area.

Interested providers in the field of early childhood education may apply for funding, provided they are recognized as non-profit under § 34ff BAO and already have a reliable contractual partnership with the Municipal Department 10 (Kindergartens). A prerequisite for approval is the opening or expansion of a facility within the defined target area. By providing financial resources, new groups for toddlers can be planned, rooms adapted, or pedagogical care offerings staffed. The funding is explicitly aimed at organizations wishing to invest long-term in early childhood education and thereby make an important contribution to Vienna’s social infrastructure. Applications can be submitted until the deadline of December 31, 2027.
