Description

In Upper Austria, the state government supports non-profit organizations and public institutions with continuously available grant funding for training measures benefiting people with disabilities. Three modular funding programs form the core: The individual funding imparts motor, communication, and cultural-technical skills for educational, everyday life, and professional contexts. The RISS program (Rehabilitation and Integration of the Visually Impaired and Late-Blind) offers systematic training in practical life skills, orientation, mobility, and communication abilities. A supplementary retraining program is aimed at blind and severely visually impaired persons with additional support needs. Additionally, German courses up to level A2 are offered for visually impaired individuals with a migration background. The goal is the sustainable strengthening of individual capabilities as well as social and professional integration.

Eligible for funding under the Upper Austrian Equal Opportunities Act are non-profit sponsoring organizations recognized according to § 27 and having concluded a service agreement (§ 30). Participants must have permanent residence or main domicile in Upper Austria (§ 2 Equal Opportunities Act), EU citizenship or equivalent legal status, and must waive similar benefits under other regulations. The funding period has been unlimited since 05.11.2013 with no end date, and applications can be submitted at any time. Required documents include a medical certificate of the disability, proof of lawful residence, and current income and asset statements. Detailed information on deadlines, formal requirements, and application procedures is available from the Social Department of the Upper Austrian State Government.
