Extraordinary Student Support for Participation in School Events

In Carinthia, extraordinary financial support is available that enables students receiving regular school and boarding allowances in accordance with the School and Boarding Allowance Act to attend school events. As a grant subsidy, the measure is aimed at educational institutions, particularly agricultural vocational schools, and covers training & further education, social concerns, as well as labor & social topics. The goal is to facilitate active participation in excursions, project weeks, sports and cultural events, and to promote social engagement. Funding can be applied for continuously, as ongoing application opportunities exist and funds are allocated based on need.

A prerequisite for approval is the receipt of a regular school and boarding allowance as well as confirmation of the planned school event by the respective agricultural vocational school. Applications are submitted directly by the institution and are subject to a computational and factual review regarding economical and appropriate use of funds. Only proof of event participation is required – no additional documents are foreseen. Since applications can be submitted at any time and the funding has been valid without a deadline since 2014, it enables unbureaucratic support. The processing is carried out by the Office of the Carinthian State Government, Department 10 – Agriculture and Forestry, Rural Areas, which makes the decision within the framework of a discretionary decision.
