Description
The funding initiative of the State of Burgenland supports private individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations in financially managing property damage caused by extraordinary weather disasters. Restoration measures following floods, landslides, mudslides, avalanches, earthquakes, snow pressure, hurricanes, rockfalls, and hail are eligible for funding. As a continuous grant program in the fields of disaster protection and labor & social affairs, it is aimed at natural and legal persons – excluding public authorities – and intends to quickly alleviate the economic burden on assets. All invoices and payment receipts relevant to the restoration, as well as a detailed calculation of the damage amount, are taken into account. The total budget is set at 0.7 million euros; applications can be submitted continuously as long as funds are available.
A prerequisite for approval is, on the one hand, verifiable financial burden due to the damage event, and on the other hand, personal eligibility for funding, which is not granted in cases of negligent omission of preventive measures. The application documents to be submitted include the disaster law application form, all receipts related to the restoration measures, and the damage calculation form. Submission must be made immediately and no later than six weeks after the occurrence of the damage; confirmation from the municipality is mandatory. A legal basis arises from the Disaster Fund Act 1996 and the state regulations for the promotion of disaster damage remediation. The funding decision is made without subjective legal entitlement and is based on the individual damage situation as well as the proper and timely submission of the application.
