Contributions to the Promotion of Inland Fisheries

The funding contribution from the state of Vorarlberg supports the Vorarlberg State Fisheries Association in the proper implementation of its statutory duties in accordance with the Fisheries Act. With an annual budget of approximately 0.03 million euros, activities in the field of inland fisheries are promoted, including the issuance of fishing licenses, professional support for aquaculture, as well as measures for environmental and climate protection. The funding aims to ensure the sustainable management of local fish stocks and to represent the interests of regional fisheries vis-à-vis politics, administration, and the public. Applications can be submitted continuously and are assessed in a transparent selection process that equally considers all eligible projects.

Only the Vorarlberg State Fisheries Association as a legal entity, which by law assumes the professional responsibilities in inland fisheries, is eligible for funding. A prerequisite for approval is proof of fulfillment of the assigned tasks – such as conducting training courses and examinations for professional qualification in fishing or supporting fisheries committees. To apply, an informal application, a detailed cost breakdown, and a declaration of commitment must be submitted. Approval is granted by a decision of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Agriculture (Va). This continuous funding secures the future viability of inland fisheries in Vorarlberg and makes a significant contribution to regional rural development.
