Description

The program Vocational Orientation for Persons with Refugee and Migration Experience (BOFplus) supports nationwide measures that assist refugees and migrants on their path to professional integration. The project aims to offer accompanying services for orientation, preparation for training, and qualification, with a particular focus on targeted language support. Funding recipients such as educational institutions and public agencies can apply for grants to implement practical and multi-stage offerings that provide participants in small groups – a maximum of 15 persons – with individual opportunities. Criteria such as completion of compulsory schooling, demonstrated German language skills generally at B1 level, and completion of an integration course are required to ensure eligibility for participation.

The project integrates diverse measures covering the entire process of vocational orientation. In addition to initial counseling and an intensive orientation phase, the program provides a structured course on vocational orientation, in which practical job explorations and job-related language instruction play central roles. Furthermore, personnel costs for project management are fully funded to ensure expert and sustainable implementation. Childcare costs can also be reimbursed up to a specified amount per week and child, enabling all participants to focus on their professional development without family-related constraints.

The measure targets individuals with personal or familial refugee and migration experience who require support in deciding on a training or qualification pathway. The funding contributes to gradually introducing affected persons to the framework conditions of the German labor market and preparing them in a practical manner for the demands of vocational training, studies, or qualifying further education. Applications must be submitted by providers of inter-company or comparable educational institutions, with application submission required via the electronic system easy-Online. The application period begins on February 1, 2024, and ends no later than December 31, 2025, providing sufficient time to submit all necessary documents within the deadline.
