Description
The operating cost subsidy for wastewater disposal facilities is aimed at public institutions in Vorarlberg and particularly supports municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants. The focus is on financial relief where unreasonably high sewer usage fees would be necessary to cover costs. As a grant, the program supports operating costs and maintenance expenses as well as repayment portions of the net construction costs for local and association facilities. With a continuously available subsidy granted ex officio, the measure contributes to the improvement of municipal infrastructure, environmental and nature conservation, energy efficiency, and climate protection. An application is not required: the subsidy is granted automatically from January 1, 2023.
Eligible for funding are municipalities that fully utilize all possible federal and state subsidies as well as other user contributions and levy sewer connection fees in a reasonable amount according to the Sewerage Act. The subsidy rates are tiered according to the hypothetical fee requirement per cubic meter of wastewater: for values between €3.07 and €3.52, the grant is 80%; between €3.52 and €4.05, 90%; and from €4.05 even 100%. Development contributions are not eligible for funding. This annual operating cost subsidy enables reliable planning and helps to operate wastewater facilities in a long-term economically, ecologically, and socially balanced manner.
