Description
As a central instrument for minimizing risks in forest fires, this funding supports the cost coverage of insurance premiums for forest owners. Insurance providers offering forest fire insurance in Austria can receive a 25% subsidy on the invoiced premiums. This not only raises awareness of forest fire risks but also concretely contributes to the preservation and care of native forest ecosystems in the interest of sustainable forestry. The measure covers the thematic priorities of Agriculture & Rural Development, Environmental/Nature Protection, and Energy Efficiency & Climate Protection, and creates planning security through ongoing funding modalities.
Applications are submitted annually by May 1st for the following calendar year to the Federal Ministry based in Vienna. Only the actual premium payments made for forest fire insurance are eligible for funding, which must be submitted together with a forecast of the expected premium volume at the time of application. With transparent processing and clear funding guidelines, the measure contributes to the long-term stabilization of the forestry sector and enables insurance providers to offer services cost-efficiently. Thus, it makes a significant contribution to the sustainable safeguarding of Austrian forests.
