Description

The Franco-German Youth Office in Baden-Württemberg offers financial support to schools of all types for extracurricular exchanges with partner schools in France. The target group comprises educational institutions and public sponsors seeking to deepen intercultural exchange among students through group exchanges, teacher language courses, or internships abroad. By subsidizing travel costs for up to 35 travelers and reimbursing travel expenses for accompanying teachers, a balanced partnership is supported on both sides. Projects should promote the learning of the French language, strengthen the participants' intercultural competence, and foster mutual understanding. In particular, third-location meetings, where groups meet at a neutral venue, are well suited for thematic focuses and enable intensive language activation and tandem work.

Group exchanges are funded if the sending school submits an application and the counterpart has already organized or plans to organize a reciprocal exchange. A detailed project concept with clear objectives, an intercultural dimension, and active student participation is required, as well as adherence to the ratio of a maximum of one-third to two-thirds between the groups. Applications must be submitted annually by November 30 via the DFJW online platform. After approval, proof of use, a signed participant list, an exchange report, the program schedule, and travel cost invoices must be submitted to receive the payment. Selection is based on the quality, intercultural orientation, and reciprocity of the project. This funding offers schools in Baden-Württemberg the opportunity to provide students with enriching experiences beyond the classroom and to sustainably strengthen Franco-German friendship.
