Description
The doctoral program of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria supports excellent early-career researchers in Upper Austria and Vienna through a financial grant for part-time employment (10 – 20 hours per week) throughout the entire duration of the doctoral project. The aim is to enable dissertations that could not be completed within the intended timeframe without this support and have a remaining duration of at least two years. A prerequisite is a doctoral thesis that has not yet started or is in an early phase, with a binding supervision commitment from an Austrian university as well as confirmation of enrollment in the doctoral program. Applications are submitted exclusively by FH OÖ Research and Development GmbH via the electronic eCall procedure; deadlines are announced for each call on the portals of the FFG and the State of Upper Austria. Only personnel costs for the employment of the doctoral candidates are funded.
Public institutions that ensure active support and integration of the funded researchers into the research structure of FH OÖ use this funding instrument to strengthen scientific excellence and promote the transfer of innovations into teaching and practice. The continuously open funding opportunities provide a predictable perspective for prospective doctoral candidates who wish to carry out their dissertation projects under optimal conditions. The combination of professional supervision at the University of Applied Sciences and university-level oversight fosters interdisciplinary exchange, generating sustainable impulses for research and science in the region.
