Description
With the program “Supply Security in Rural Areas – Energy Self-Sufficient Farms,” the Climate and Energy Fund, in cooperation with Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH, supports agricultural and forestry enterprises with an Austrian LFBIS farm number to sustainably increase their energy self-sufficiency and strengthen resilience against power outages. In four modules, primary producers have the opportunity to implement quickly executable individual measures such as photovoltaic systems + battery storage + emergency power function (Module A) or retrofitting existing storage systems. Module B promotes the development of a comprehensive energy concept including buildings, processes, and mobility, which forms the basis for the combined investment packages in Module C. From thermal building renovation to efficient cooling and ventilation systems, to e-mobility and intelligent energy management, diverse bundles of measures can receive substantial grants. Module D additionally enables funding for an emergency power feed-in point at the meter box after retrofitting.
Up to EUR 250,000 total funding per enterprise is available from the overall budget of EUR 100 million. Applications are submitted online at www.umweltfoerderung.at under “Supply Security in Rural Areas” before the first binding order of the systems, and in Module D also after implementation. Essential technical and economic key data are recorded in the application form, and supporting documents – including quotes, energy concepts, and bank reports (for investment sums from EUR 100,000) – are uploaded. After positive evaluation and approval, implementation begins: completion is expected within two and nine months for Modules A and D respectively, twelve months for Module B from approval; Module C measures must be completed within 36 months. The final accounting, including all invoices and confirmations, is conducted online, after which the funding is disbursed. Further details and FAQs can be found at lw.klimafonds.gv.at and at KPC (umwelt@kommunalkredit.at).
