Description
The funding program ERDF 21-27: Applied Research/Demo Projects; Eco-Innovations – Product & Process Improvement targets small and medium-sized enterprises in Vienna that are active in the fields of research & innovation as well as energy efficiency & renewable energies. As sub-measure 3.2 of the EU Cohesion Program IBW/ERDF & JTF 2021–2027, it provides grants to advance product and process optimizations using climate-friendly technologies. With a total budget of €8.246 million, the measure supports application-oriented R&D projects and demonstration initiatives that contribute to material and energy efficiency improvements, lead to reduced energy consumption among users, and achieve significant greenhouse gas reductions. The initiative also promotes the sustainable development of rural areas and contributes to the long-term safeguarding of resource-efficient agricultural production processes.
Eligible for funding are companies with SME status according to the EU definition, whose projects focus on improved energy efficiency and GHG reduction. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy; the amount is based on project costs and degree of innovation. Submissions are accepted until December 31, 2029. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of Austrian enterprises, facilitate market access for green technologies, and make a substantial contribution to achieving national and European climate protection targets. The funding generates impulses for new partnerships and stronger networking within regional innovation networks, while the impact on energy savings and CO₂ reduction is directly measurable.
