Description

ERDF / JTF 21-27 (AT): Funding for company-based and cross-company R&D projects
In Upper Austria, the state program supports the regional co-financing of company-based and cross-company research and development projects (measures 1.2, 3.2, and 6.2). A prerequisite for funding is a project location in Upper Austria as well as the involvement of research institutions in consortia. Grants cover personnel and overhead costs, investments in laboratory equipment or demonstration plants, as well as external services. Management and transport costs can be claimed as flat rates, travel expenses at 2% of eligible personnel costs. The maximum funding depends on the measure: up to 20% flat-rate equity for R&D projects and up to 25% for green technologies are available. Applications can be submitted continuously via the ATES system until 31.12.2029, with project start possible from 01.01.2022. For processing, project description, budget plan, CVs of project leaders, and ATES-2021 registration proof must be submitted. Evaluation criteria include innovation content, benefits for SMEs, and Green Deal coherence.

The funding objective is to expand R&D competencies, technology transfer, and low-emission innovations in Upper Austria as well as to facilitate SME access to research services. In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, public research institutions, and non-profit organizations benefit from co-financing. Consulting and transfer services, demonstration projects, and eco-innovations to increase energy efficiency are supported. A streamlined application process via the online portal ATES 2021 increases transparency and reduces administrative burdens. Through the combination of ERDF and JTF funds, added value and leverage effects can be achieved: approximately €25.7 million ERDF funds from a total budget of €597 million are invested in future technologies and sustainable value creation. The state funding program thus enables pioneering projects along the #upperVISION2030 strategy.
