Description

Within the service area of "Forest Management" under the ELER Program 2023-2027, comprehensive support is offered for the sustainable use and maintenance of forest areas. Eligible for funding are companies, private individuals, public institutions, and non-profit organizations in all Austrian federal states – from Burgenland to Vienna. This funding program addresses the thematic areas of Agriculture & Rural Development, Environmental/Nature Conservation, Climate Protection, Regional Development, and Energy Efficiency. The objective is to strengthen biodiversity, optimize protective functions against natural hazards such as floods, avalanches, and rockfalls, and sustainably secure the recreational and welfare benefits of forests for society and the economy. The budgeted volume amounts to approximately 70.26 million euros.

In particular, forest owners, forestry enterprises, municipalities, and other managers can submit innovative and climate-resilient projects, such as the maintenance of site-appropriate mixed stands, targeted thinning, establishment of protective strips along watercourses, renovation of forest roads, or the use of monitoring systems for early detection of risk situations. The funding type available is a grant covering eligible costs in accordance with the special guideline and the national CAP strategic plan. Applications can be submitted exclusively via the AMA Digital Funding Platform (DFP) between 01.04.2025 and 31.12.2027. Approval requires compliance with all specified conditions. This funding strengthens the long-term protective function of forests, promotes regional value creation, and contributes to a holistic sustainability strategy in rural areas. Close coordination with local authorities and experts ensures sustainable project success.
