Description
Within the framework of the EU co-financed EMFAF program 2023-2027, two main types of measures are supported: data collection (M2) as well as monitoring and enforcement (M3) in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. The objective is to strengthen the traceability of fishery and aquaculture products through modern molecular biological analysis methods and IT-supported data management systems. At the same time, socioeconomic surveys, environmental indicators, and pilot studies on fish stocks in inland waters aim to improve the data basis for scientific decision-making. The grant covers up to 100% of eligible expenses (personnel costs, material and investment costs, as well as overhead allowances) and allows project durations of up to 36 months. For each pilot study, a funding amount of up to €280,000 is provided.
Eligible for funding are companies, educational institutions, non-profit and public organizations in the federal states of Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg, and Vienna. A prerequisite is the economical, appropriate, and efficient use of public funds, compliance with EMFAF publicity requirements, and conformity with the approved Austrian data collection plan. In addition to qualified proof of data management, a detailed project description, cost breakdown, business plan, excerpt from the commercial register, as well as the M2 application form and declaration of commitment must be submitted. Ongoing applications are possible until 31.12.2028, with a deadline for the measure “data collection” on 28.02.2023 at 12:00 noon. Evaluation is based on the degree of innovation, scientific relevance, and targeted use of funds.
