Description

Preservation of the Alpine Trail Network aims to sustainably maintain and expand the extensive hiking and trail directory in the Salzburg mountain region. The program supports non-profit umbrella organizations of alpine clubs that take responsibility for prevention, maintenance, and marking. The focus is on measures that ensure both ecological nature conservation and safe access routes. Funding is provided as a grant and can be applied for continuously. This ensures ongoing care of the trail network – from initial repair work through regular inspections to final evaluation after the preservation season ends in December. A complete accounting with original receipts is submitted in the first quarter of the following year, ensuring transparent processing.

Eligible for funding are umbrella organizations of alpine clubs within the Salzburg state territory, such as the Salzburg umbrella association of the Austrian Alpine Club, the Nature Friends Salzburg, or the umbrella association of the German Alpine Club. Requirements include submitting a funding application and recognition as a legally registered association according to the General Guidelines for Funding of the State of Salzburg. The required documents correspond to the application form of Department 6 – Infrastructure and Transport at the Office of the Salzburg State Government. As there are no application deadlines, an application can be submitted at any time. This funding offer makes an important contribution to preserving alpine hiking infrastructure and helps secure the mountain experience for all nature enthusiasts.
