Description
The Film Funding of the City of Graz supports creatively driven projects within the film industry in Styria. Both individuals and companies can submit grant applications online at any time, provided the project has content-related or production-technical connections to the state capital Graz. Funding is available for cinema, TV, and feature films as well as documentaries, series, serials, short and long films. Furthermore, festivals and film days taking place in Graz may also receive financial support. The aim of these initiatives is to strengthen local film production, further develop the regional film industry, and position Graz as a filming location both nationally and internationally. The funding type, as a one-time grant, offers flexibility for diverse audiovisual projects and contributes to the sustainable visibility of artistic filmmaking in the region.
A prerequisite for a successful application is that the project has not yet commenced and that all participants, financing partners, as well as content-related concept details, are included in the digital submission. Eligible costs include, among others, personnel expenses, material and travel costs, as well as marketing and PR expenditures. The application documents must comprise a complete script, a detailed project description including a shot list, a detailed budget with a financing plan, a distribution and marketing concept, (pre-)contracts, and a shooting schedule. Upon completion of the project, a high-quality digital copy must be provided for archival purposes and all further funding measures of the Film Commission Graz must be reported. The call for applications has been ongoing since 01.10.2020 and does not specify a fixed submission deadline. If total financing exceeds the actual costs, any overpaid funds must be repaid proportionally. There is no legal entitlement to funding; nevertheless, this funding opportunity offers producers and filmmakers attractive prospects for innovative film projects in Graz.
