Description

The ZNS Foundation – Assistance for People with Traumatic Brain Injury provides needs-based individual assistance through the ZNS Relief Fund and the Roland Weiß Fund for those affected by traumatic brain injury or in a persistent vegetative state (apallistic syndrome). Nationwide, private individuals can apply for a one-time grant of up to €500 from the ZNS Relief Fund or up to €2,000 from the Roland Weiß Fund, as soon as other cost bearer benefits are insufficient or have been denied. The primary focus is on timely financial relief: support is granted only upon proven financial need and credible emergency. There is no legal entitlement, and any claims for compensation against third parties must be reported to the Foundation immediately.

The application must include, in addition to a medical certificate regarding the course and severity of the traumatic brain injury or proof of the apallistic syndrome, a fully completed information form from the Foundation. Detailed evidence of the monthly net income of all household members, fixed expenses, and, if applicable, rejected social benefit notices must be attached. All documents are treated confidentially and strictly reviewed in accordance with data protection regulations. Assessment is based on financial need and the plausibility of the emergency situation. Applications can be submitted at any time. Upon positive decision, receipts proving the use of funds must be submitted to the advisory and information service within six months to ensure proper use.
