Description
Private individuals residing in Vienna with a disability degree of at least 50% can access financial grants from the support fund, which quickly alleviate disability-related emergencies in the areas of social affairs and work & social affairs. As an unbureaucratic and fee-free grant, the program fully funds projects up to €6,000 (100% funding rate) and enables rapid intervention in cases of sudden additional expenses. Applications can be submitted continuously until the fund volume is exhausted, with applications generally required to be submitted before the implementation of the project; exceptions are permitted in cases of proven special hardship. The budget amounts to €5 million; there is no legal entitlement to approval, as decisions are always made on a case-by-case basis.
Targeted measures such as adaptations of living and sanitary spaces, stairlifts, communication aids, disability-related vehicle modifications, and assistance dogs are funded to strengthen participation and self-determined action. Requirements include permanent residence in Austria, proof of disability degree by official notice or disability pass, the presence of a social emergency, and compliance with specified income limits. The application and accompanying documents – including application form, guidelines, cost estimates and invoices, income and citizenship proofs, as well as current medical reports – should ideally be submitted prior to implementation. In the review process, experts assess urgency, severity of disability, cost-effectiveness, and the ratio of total costs to household income. The unbureaucratic processing without fees and formal requirements supports timely decisions. Transparent evaluations regarding cost-effectiveness and appropriateness ensure fair funding practices.
