Funding of the Diplomatic Academy

The permanent funding of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna supports a renowned postgraduate academic institution that has been providing its students with excellent teaching and research opportunities in the fields of international law, diplomacy, and contemporary history since January 1, 2013. As a grant pursuant to the applicable financial legal authorization according to Federal Law Gazette No. 178/1996 § 21, the financial contribution helps to ensure a diverse study and support environment. Especially in the context of global challenges, the Academy makes a valuable contribution to the training and further education of professionals and leaders who address international issues and develop solutions for global conflict areas.

The funding is exclusively directed to the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna as a public institution and is administered through the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Department VI.3 – Budget Matters and Controlling. Applications can be submitted continuously, provided the financial legal authorization remains in effect. Through transparent grant management, the annual disbursement amounts are disclosed and regularly updated. The aim of this continuous funding is to sustainably secure the academic excellence and internationality of the Diplomatic Academy and thereby make an important contribution to Austrian foreign policy and the educational landscape.
