Description
The state of Upper Austria grants unlimited subsidies for the financing of literacy and German courses for course providers in Upper Austria. As a direct subsidy program, it is divided into the thematic areas of training and further education, education, migration, as well as work & social affairs and is continuously available. In accordance with the requirements of the state language curriculum and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the teaching of basic reading and writing skills as well as German language proficiency is supported. The funding focus is on literacy courses for persons with a non-German mother tongue who have insufficient reading and writing skills or who were literate in a different writing system, as well as on German courses for participants with limited German language skills. By adhering to high quality standards and transparent reporting and accounting procedures, an effective and reliable implementation of language promotion is ensured.
Eligible for funding are educational institutions and non-profit organizations that offer courses according to the language promotion guidelines of the state of Upper Austria. Requirements include submitting the application before the course begins, providing proof of a secured financing plan, compliance with economy and efficiency, as well as the content-related and teaching qualifications of the course instructors. The number of participants varies depending on the course format: 5 – 7 persons for literacy courses and 10 – 15 persons for German courses. An appropriate participant fee must not exceed the specified maximum limit. For five or more children, free childcare is funded. Required documents include a completed application form, a detailed course description, statutes, budget and financing plan, as well as final proof of use including original invoices and payment receipts. The application deadline is unlimited and applications can be submitted continuously.
