Description

The Green Paw Foundation supports registered interest groups, associations, and foundations nationwide with a focus on charitable nature conservation in acquiring valuable protected areas. Instead of direct monetary grants, the foundation purchases the affected areas and grants the local conservation groups a usufruct right permanently anchored in the land register. This way, all ownership rights and obligations remain with the committed local parties, while notary and land registry costs are also covered by Green Paw. Eligible expenses are exclusively those related to land acquisition and associated processing fees; direct grants to third parties are excluded. The decision is based on the availability of suitable areas, the conservation relevance, and the financial feasibility of the project. Since long-term commitment must already be demonstrated in the statutes, funding is exclusively granted to associations and foundations that have enshrined a permanent nature conservation obligation in their statutes.

Applications can be submitted continuously and require only a meaningful project proposal. After positive evaluation, the foundation assumes the purchase of the desired area and simultaneously transfers the usufruct right to the conservation group. This ensures that responsibility for the maintenance and conservation-appropriate development of the area remains permanently in competent local hands, without Green Paw intervening in operational management matters. The goal of this funding measure is the sustainable preservation and development of forests, moors, orchards, water bodies, and other valuable habitats in the interest of climate and species protection.
