Funding Program of the Alois Ammerschläger Foundation

The Alois Ammerschläger Foundation is committed nationwide to socially disadvantaged individuals, outstanding athletes, as well as creative cultural and art projects that align with the values of the Frankfurt department store founder Alois Ammerschläger (1913–1995). Founded in 1993 with the aim of preserving the founder’s social and cultural philanthropic vision, the non-profit foundation resumed its funding activities in 2019 after a hiatus due to economic challenges. The focus lies on Sports, Culture & Media as well as Work & Social Affairs, to provide needy individuals with access to new opportunities and to support exceptional achievements in the fields of sports and culture.

Applications are only possible by invitation from the foundation, as the selection is conducted by its committees. The evaluation particularly considers the social benefit and the concrete need of the applicants, the artistic or athletic quality, as well as the alignment with the foundation’s objectives. Project submissions must reflect the founder’s intent and cannot be submitted on one’s own initiative. The Alois Ammerschläger Foundation supports projects through sponsorship grants and places great emphasis on sustainable impact in accordance with the founder’s vision. Interested organizations and individuals are directly approached by the foundation and receive detailed information on the further procedure through this channel.
