Description
The state of Vorarlberg grants small municipalities with up to 5,000 inhabitants a financial subsidy to partially cover travel costs incurred in the previous care year for the round-trip transportation of children between their place of residence and the kindergarten group. Eligible for funding are public providers whose children residing in the municipality live at least 1.5 kilometers away from the nearest kindergarten facility. The program strengthens mobility and social participation in early childhood education offerings in rural areas and contributes to equal opportunities for families in more remote regions.
Only travel costs are funded, with a graduated funding rate of 30% up to 60% of the documented expenses granted. Applications are submitted annually via a provided application form; only fully completed documents will be reviewed. The responsible authority is the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government (Department of Early Childhood Education). Applications must be submitted by October 31 of the current year, with the earliest submission date being May 1. By accepting the grant, the applying municipality commits to complying with the guidelines and to the transparent management of its funded project.
