Description
Funding from personalized license plate revenues (Traffic Safety Fund) supports measures and projects initiated in Upper Austria aimed at increasing traffic safety. Municipalities, interest groups, associations, educational institutions, and public entities can continuously submit grant applications to implement infrastructural improvements or awareness campaigns. Examples of funded initiatives include the establishment of safe pedestrian crossings, the modernization of school routes, or the procurement of sensitizing educational materials. The measure has been valid since 01.01.2014 and will continue until the allocated volume of currently 0.202 million euros is fully utilized. The goal of the initiative is to make a sustainable contribution to traffic safety in the cities and municipalities of Upper Austria through targeted projects and to reduce road traffic accidents. The programs are equally aimed at municipal decision-makers, schools, and security authorities such as the police.
For application submission, a detailed description of the project as well as a formal funding request are required. Additionally, the signed funding declaration must be attached. Proof of costs in the form of invoices or budget account statements must be submitted to ensure transparent processing. Funding prerequisites include compliance with specified project and application deadlines, the suitability of the measure with regard to the traffic safety objective, and the provision of sufficient budgetary resources. Approval is granted by the office of the Upper Austrian Regional Councillor for Transport at the Directorate for Road Construction and Transport. Following successful approval, proof of use such as implementation confirmations, participant lists, and reports must be submitted. This funding model contributes to raising awareness of accident prevention measures and realizing sustainable infrastructure projects throughout Upper Austria.
