Description

The funding for monument preservation and the safeguarding of cultural heritage supports the conservation of historically valuable sacred and secular buildings as well as small monuments in the federal state of Salzburg. This includes churches, chapels, castles, palaces, townhouses, farmhouses, as well as wayside shrines, granaries, mills, and roadside crosses, including their art-historical furnishings such as sculptures, paintings, and historic organs. Eligible applicants are natural and legal persons – private owners, religious communities, municipalities, associations, and other non-profit organizations. The continuous submission option ensures that significant cultural monuments are supported flexibly and according to needs.

A prerequisite for funding is a written funding request prior to the start of the project as well as a minimum investment of €1,000. The grant amounts to up to 40% of the recognized eligible expenses. These include construction measures for substance preservation, restorations of art-historical furnishings, planning and expert costs, as well as travel expenses in accordance with travel expense regulations. Excluded are, among other things, electrical and heating installations, the new construction of church pews, acoustic systems or organs, as well as investment costs under €1,000. The complete application must include a renovation or restoration concept and cost estimates. The funding is provided as a direct grant and is unlimited in time, with annual applications ideally submitted by the end of September of the respective calendar year. Upon completion of the project, a proof of use with original receipts must be submitted to verify the proper use of the funds.
