Description
Since September 1, 2019, the State of Burgenland has been supporting the home care of persons in need of care from care allowance level 3 onwards by designated caregivers. Within the framework of this funding initiative, subsidies are granted for wages and ancillary wage costs to ensure the social security coverage as well as the livelihood of the caregivers, while simultaneously enabling the care recipients to remain in their familiar environment. A second funding model is also aimed at retired caregivers with low net household income. Applications can be submitted continuously; there is no maximum deadline. The processing is carried out by Pflegeservice Burgenland GmbH, which also ensures substitute care during vacations or service unavailability.
Eligible for funding are private individuals with their main residence in Burgenland (uninterrupted for at least two years) and receiving care allowance from level 3, who enter into a contractual agreement with Pflegeservice Burgenland GmbH for the specified number of weekly hours. A prerequisite is that the designated caregiver is fully legally competent, medically suitable, and fundamentally trained within one year of starting service (exception applies for those who have already completed home helper training). To apply, among other documents, proof of income, the latest care allowance certificate, proof of citizenship, medical certificate, training certificate, a current criminal record certificate, as well as the application forms (Appendix A), assignment contract (Appendix B), declaration of commitment (Appendix C), and consent declarations (Appendices D–G) must be submitted. This funding makes a valuable contribution to securing qualified caregivers in Burgenland and to continuing familiar care in one’s own home.
