Description

Since 2005, the Mainz Palliative Foundation – Living Until the End has continuously supported projects to strengthen palliative care in Rhineland-Palatinate, with a focus on the University Medical Center Mainz. Public institutions can submit grant applications at any time to provide the best possible care for critically ill and dying patients as well as people in need of care. The foundation’s goal is to ensure the preservation of dignity at the end of life and to enable holistic care. The funds benefit both complementary therapies and personnel reinforcement, contributing to the optimization of individual pain and symptom management as well as psychosocial and spiritual support.

Funding is provided for additional medical and nursing positions in the palliative care unit or in outpatient co-care, music and art therapies, specialized nursing aids, as well as targeted training and continuing education measures. The foundation also supports the acquisition of furniture and equipment, such as quiet rooms, garden furniture, or display technology, to create a dignified atmosphere. Applications can be submitted at any time; a prerequisite for funding is affiliation with the University Medical Center Mainz and activity in the field of palliative medicine. Through this long-term and flexible support, the foundation sustainably strengthens the palliative care landscape in Mainz and enables empathetic attention to critically ill people until the very end.
