Description

Repair Bonus Funding Initiative in Vienna: The initiative supports private individuals residing in Vienna in the repair of electrical and electronic devices as well as bicycles. From September 16, 2024, 50% of the gross costs for repair, service, and maintenance will be covered up to €200 per voucher; cost estimates are subsidized with €30 per voucher. The funding volume is limited to €124 million and is available until funds are exhausted. The goal is to increase the repair rate to reduce electronic waste and strengthen the circular economy. The Federal Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management (BMLUK) finances the program jointly with funds from the EU recovery fund "NextGenerationEU."

Eligibility and Procedure: Eligible applicants are private individuals who own the devices or bicycles to be repaired. Loaned and rented items, as well as services covered by warranty, guarantee, or insurance claims, are excluded. Applications are submitted online by creating a voucher on the funding agency’s platform. The repair voucher (QR code) must be redeemed within three weeks at one of the participating partner businesses. For reimbursement, the repair voucher, the business invoice, and the online application form must be submitted. Purchases of new devices or components, battery replacements only, and legally mandated maintenance work are not eligible for funding. This initiative strengthens local businesses and promotes sustainable resource use.
