Description
The funding for free kindergarten in Tyrol enables free early childhood education care for children aged four and five in institutional childcare facilities. Public institutions and private individuals are eligible for funding, with the measure thematically assigned to the areas of children and youth, education, labor & social affairs, as well as training & further education. Only the costs for half-day attendance amounting to 20 hours per week are funded. The funding measure is granted as a subsidy and covers 100% of the incurred care costs. The validity period extends from November 1, 2022, to August 31, 2027.
The amount of the grant is up to €900 per kindergarten year for five-year-old children and up to €450 for four-year-old children, each depending on the duration of attendance. Expenses for meals or special offers are excluded. Beneficiaries can be both operators of childcare facilities and parents of children with primary residence in Tyrol, provided that the child attends a childcare facility abroad. A prerequisite is registration for at least 20 hours per week in a kindergarten group and the completion of the fourth or fifth year of life by August 31 before the start of the respective kindergarten year. To apply, the data must be entered in the Childcare Database (KIBET), a copy of the birth certificate and, if applicable, a confirmation of compulsory attendance abroad must be submitted. Applications can be submitted continuously during the respective kindergarten year.
