Description

The "Support for External School Examinations" program of the state of Baden-Württemberg assists non-profit educational institutions in organizing and conducting preparatory courses for the retroactive acquisition of the secondary general school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss). The goal is to provide individuals who have completed regular schooling with a structured, qualified pathway to successfully pass the external school examination. Eligible applicants are primarily adult education centers (Volkshochschulen) as well as other providers of continuing education offerings operating on a non-profit basis and conducting courses with at least 15 participants (or 10 participants for foreign language courses). Through this funding, educational providers can strengthen regional educational offerings and open up new perspectives for target groups with limited educational opportunities.

Funding covers remuneration for teaching hours according to the current rates of the MVergV, as well as a flat basic funding amount of 1,000 euros per learning group. Up to 90 hours per course are recognized for German, mathematics, and optional foreign language instruction, 45 hours for political/economic education, and 45 hours for socio-pedagogical support. In learning groups with foreign participants, an additional language support requirement of up to 45 hours may be granted. Prerequisites for the grant include non-profit status, a structured budget or financial plan, information on the expected number of participants and group composition, as well as confirmation of admission requirements in accordance with HSAPO § 14 paragraph 2. Applications must be submitted to the responsible regional administrative authority no later than one month before the course start date to ensure feasible implementation and timely approval.
