Funding of individual projects and annual activities in the field of literature

The Department of Culture (Magistratsabteilung 7) of the City of Vienna continuously awards grants for individual projects and annual activities in the field of literature mediation. Projects that enrich the literary life in the Vienna urban area are supported: readings, poetry slams, literature festivals, and other mediating activities are the focus. Both authors, publishers, as well as non-profit associations and collectives can submit applications to realize innovative formats and established event series. Individual funding supports individuals up to a maximum of €10,000, while organizers and institutions can plan and implement longer-term annual programs through overall funding.

A central requirement is a seat or main residence in Vienna; natural persons must be of legal age. The continuous submission option allows for flexible planning and rapid implementation of literary projects. The funding contribution helps to make Viennese literary projects more visible, initiate new developments, and promote direct dialogue between writers and the audience. Thus, the funding makes a significant contribution to cultural diversity and strengthens the network of cultural practitioners in the city.
