The promotion of measures in urban water management in Salzburg supports investments to ensure high-quality drinking water supply and efficient wastewater disposal at the municipal level. The focus is on both large municipal systems as well as individual and small wastewater disposal facilities. The program enables municipalities, municipal associations, and water associations to modernize and expand their infrastructure in accordance with the funding guidelines of the state of Salzburg. Projects that consider space-saving urban development and align with local spatial planning concepts are supported. Applications can be submitted continuously, thereby ensuring ongoing planning security.
Eligible for funding are exclusively public institutions, which, in addition to investment funding, can also submit operating and debt service costs. A prerequisite for a grant is the full utilization of federal funding, proof of orderly management, and the measurement of water consumption via meters. Furthermore, documentation of fund usage is required; otherwise, repayment may be demanded. Transparency is created through consent to the publication of funding amounts, purpose, and address data in the subsidy report. House sewer connections may be a maximum of 30 m from the inspection chamber, and minimum fees for water and wastewater connections must be charged.
