Funding objective

The aim of the funding is to support forward-looking, interdisciplinary projects of local actors in the rural areas of the administrative districts of Lower Bavaria, Upper Palatinate, and Upper Franconia with a cross-border character, in order to promote equivalent living conditions, utilize development potentials, and strengthen cooperation with the Czech Republic.

Funding requirements

Description

In the rural areas of the administrative districts of Lower Bavaria, Upper Palatinate, and Upper Franconia, the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and for Homeland supports forward-looking, interdisciplinary projects with a cross-border character. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen equivalent living conditions, utilize regional potentials, and intensify cooperation with the Czech Republic. Public institutions, interest groups, associations, foundations, and non-profit organizations with municipal participation are eligible to apply and can receive funding of up to €100,000 per year with a funding rate of up to 90%. Applications must be submitted by May 14, 2026 and must be received at least four weeks before the project start date.

Eligible costs include personnel expenses, travel and accommodation costs, hospitality at public events, public relations, external consulting and services, as well as investments (max. 50% of eligible expenses) and other third-party services. A prerequisite is an interdisciplinary approach in at least two thematic areas, such as demographics, culture, mobility, or agriculture, as well as alignment with the Bavarian State Development Program. Own funds amounting to at least 10% of the eligible expenses and periodic evaluation are also required. Evaluation is based on the degree of innovation, interdisciplinary and cross-border character, and contribution to the development of the border region.
