Promotion of investments in new solar thermal systems for hot water preparation and heating support in private and public buildings such as residential houses, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes, sports facilities, clubs, and municipally owned building sections, as well as for micro-entrepreneurs.

Description
The funding for solar thermal systems in Styria is aimed at private individuals, educational institutions, associations, companies up to micro-enterprise size, as well as public institutions in residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, nursing homes, and sports facilities. The goal is to strengthen sustainable investments in new solar thermal systems for water heating and heating support. With this, the State of Styria aims to increase energy efficiency, utilize renewable energy sources, and make a significant contribution to climate protection. Up to 30% of the eligible investment costs are subsidized – a maximum of 300 euros per square meter of gross collector area. The eligible gross collector area varies depending on the building type and use. The deadline for submitting applications is December 31, 2025, thereby ensuring long-term planning security.
Eligible costs include material costs, installation costs, control technology, heat meters, and insulated connecting pipes. Excluded are accompanying structural measures such as trenches or transfer stations, as well as real estate acquisitions. A prerequisite is that delivery and installation take place only after the funding approval, that certified solar collectors (Austria Solar quality seal, UZ 15, or Solar Keymark) are used, and that a heat meter is installed or heat quantity balancing is performed. Furthermore, no additional state subsidies may be claimed, and in the case of commercial activity, a De-minimis declaration must be submitted. The two-stage process includes a funding application and a completion notification within twelve months. This ensures transparent and targeted funding.
