Description
In Tyrol, private and public forest owners as well as forestry associations benefit from ongoing grant funding for preventive forest protection measures against harmful organisms in the forest. As a grant in the areas of environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, agriculture & rural development, and energy efficiency, the program aims to support preventive tools such as trap trees and bait traps for bark beetle control, pheromone beetle traps, and the targeted use of plant protection products. Additionally, forestry hygiene measures – such as pruning of infested trees as well as the removal and proper treatment of harvesting residues and damaged wood – are subsidized. This strengthens the stability and resilience of forests, takes climate protection aspects into account, and sustainably promotes environmentally compatible forest management.
Eligible for funding are private and public forest owners, agricultural communities, cooperatives, interest groups, and other associations in Tyrol, provided that a demonstrated need for action exists in the respective forest area and the planned measures comply with the valid forestry funding catalog. A written funding application forms the basis for approval and can be submitted continuously without a deadline since March 1, 2013. Flat rates, own contributions, in-kind services, and material costs are eligible; when accounting based on costs, corresponding comparative offers must be submitted. Proper implementation and use of funds are ensured through on-site inspections by the district forestry inspection.
